Group of Seven Inspiration
08/Nov/2015
I really love this typical Canadian landscape with the marsh and assorted trees both dead and living. It's very reminiscent of the subject matter chosen by the great painters in the Group of Seven. And I think it's the inspiration from a lot of their work that attracts me to these types of landscapes.
Certain famous paintings come to mind such as Lawren Harris’ painting titled “Beaver Swamp” , Tom Thomson’s “Northern River” and J.E.H. MacDonald “Clearing After Rain, Magnatawan River, Ontario” are some wonderfully emotional portraits of this beautiful land.
